Substantive Editing
Also known as structural editing, ensures your story follows external and internal logic. Structural genre fiction editing focuses on helping you get the information about your worldbuilding across to your reading audience without overloading them.
Copy Editing
This is the basic stuff: I edit a manuscript for basic spelling, grammar, punctuation, and correct word choices. For works with citations, I also check for correct citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago Style). In addition, a copy edit checks for consistency in headings, layout, and use of terms.
Stylistic Editing
Involves reducing jargon where needed, clearing up any other language that might be hard for target readers to understand, so that the text is readable to the groups you wanted to target.
